Skip Loves Calvin & Hobbes

I know it's completely juvenile, but I just adore Calvin & Hobbes. Not only is it entirely funny, but read between the lines and you see the truisms of life reverberating throughout each strip. It really does speak to something deeper...er, I think...

News in a New Way

Thanks to my friends at DailyCandy, I have been turned on to the Newsmap news service and its novel and quirky visual representation of news dissemination and reporting across the globe. Not only does it look cubist and cool, but read this description from its creators;

Newsmap is an application that visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google news aggregator. A treemap visualization algorithm helps display the enormous amount of information gathered by the aggregator. Treemaps are traditionally space-constrained visualizations of information. Newsmap's objective takes that goal a step further and provides a tool to divide information into quickly recognizable bands which, when presented together, reveal underlying patterns in news reporting across cultures and within news segments in constant change around the globe.

Um, algorithms? So cool! I love the news.

Skip Loves Rooftops

There is something about the silhouette and shadowy relief, the suggestion of strangers leading mysterious lives within the lighted rooms and the lofty bridge rising above it all...What is it about rooftops that is so romantic?

Skip Prays for Ben

Seriously, folks. It was one of the most traumatizing days in my existence when I was informed that my beloved Ben (hi, Ben) had been in a motorcycle accident this morning. I cannot even recount the drop my heart took when I heard the news. I feel ill just thinking about it now.

So far, it looks like he'll survive with some minimal injuries (in the long term) but I'm going to wear my jersey to bed just in case he needs some extra lovin' prayers.

Let the Christmas List Begin

For some inexplicable reason, my sense of self has become more clear in recent weeks (if I do say so myself). I truly feel that I am finally beginning to come into my own with renewed confidence, poise and focus...and most importantly, clear style direction. I keep happening upon these items in my everyday online browsing that simply scream Skip. What's a girl to do other than blog about it? Some may say it's a product placement initiative, but I say this blog is the world's best gifting reference.

Either way, my new fascination has befallen Page Sargisson jewelry, specifically her Amalia collection. I don't know what it is about the medallions, the etchings and the precious stones...I just feel they would be at home with me.

Just for Decoration

This video is such a classic. It is about time it be resurrected for your viewing pleasure.

The Whistles Go Wooo Wooo.

The Perfect Clutch

I am literally obsessed with this clutch. To me it is the perfect manifestation of the organic-boho-classy-timelessness of style I attempt to personify. Er, or something.

At Begeren.

A Home for L'il Lou

For those of you who know me, it will not come as a surprise that my obsession with everything having its place is tantamount only to accessorizing. Naturally, I need a GPS watch for my half-marathon training. Naturally, I must have a magenta snake skin case for my camera. Of course I must have Hunter Wellingtons in case I'm stranded in flood waters or working at a dairy farm in Cornwall. And, naturally, my Nano (named L'il Lou) needs its own home.

I've discovered that the market for Nano cases, skins, etc. is just as vast as that for iPods (recall my Invisishield infatuation). And there are some fairly amazing choices out there. Take for example the Nano armour or Nano Capsule, each makes a different statement about the owner and hints at the varying contents of the pod.

After an arduous search, I have located the perfect poetic statement of a case to protect my pod. The incredible, the artistic, the witty, the Gelaskin.

Skip Wants a Puppy

Please, Mummy, can I please have a puppy?

Watch Dilly.
